Robert Barnes Jr.
January 22, 1960-March 19, 2017
Robert Barnes, aka ‘Robbie’ and ‘Rob’ was a devoted and loving son to the late Robert J Barnes, and Virgie Lee Bright Barnes Ellis, and certainly as loving, caring and supportive to his surviving sisters Barbara Virginia Barnes (Columbus, OH), Faye Elizabeth Barnes (Richmond, VA), Sarah Marcia Barnes (Franklin, VA), and Bisceglia ‘BeBe’ Barnes Bell (Norfolk, VA). Robert is also survived by his niece Monique Nicole "Nikki" Barnes and her children (Christopher, Julius, Jaylon, Sanaia, Maraia, Brielle and Amari) along with other nieces, nephews, and a host of great nieces and nephews. Brian Manley his best friend since childhood and other friends, and we cannot forget his beloved pet… Mr. Bentley (his cat).
Rob had a degree in Computer Programming and enjoyed trouble shooting and resolving technical issues on computers. Once he became unable to maintain a full time job in his field due to disability, he was there for us all, whenever we had computer problems.
Robbie knew the Lord Jesus and enjoyed an occasional conversation and healthy debate about what was actually in the Word of God. He lived a life of love, not because he said it, but he showed his love through his taking the time to listen, tireless giving, consoling and provision for others whenever they were in need.
He cannot be replaced, and we will not likely see another quite like him because he was so unique. He has quietly slipped away and almost escaped us, not wanting us to know that he had grown weary and so very worn. The desire of his heart was to go quietly and leave the living to those of us who remain.
He wants us now to be kind, loving and tender hearted to one another, live good lives, and to be Happy!
While our sorrow is great and seems so hard to bear, we know that we are not alone. It is our prayer that we will find comfort in knowing God is ever present, and that by His design there is an appointed time for all things, and death is swallowed up in victory. For we are persuaded that not even death shall separate us from the Love of God.
“The Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the
voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ
shall rise first: then we which are alive and remain, shall be caught up
together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.”
(I Thessalonians 4:13-18)
Thanks be to God, which giveth us victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
