On August 8, 2020 God called His servant, our mother, grandmother, sister, cousin, and friend, Renee Denise Gilchrist home as she was sleeping peacefully. Renee was born on July 23, 1960 to the late Donald Gilchrist and late Virginia Wilson of Princess Anne County, now Virginia Beach. She attended school in Virginia Beach, graduating from Bayside High School Class of '78 while participating on the softball and swim teams until her son was born. Renee was known for her immense love for her family, .. especially her brother Rabbit.
She provided for her family while employed in the hospitality business for twenty years. Renee was a legend in the Twin Canal community for 38 years known for her constant laughing and smiling.
She is survived by three loving children: Detron Gilchrist, Shamika Gilchrist and Tanisha Gilchrist, all of Virginia Beach, a devoted brother Donnell Gilchrist of Virginia Beach, two halfsiblings of North Carolina, three grandchildren: Donelle Spikes, Ah'Shaun Gilchrist and Onyx Gilchrist all of Virginia Beach, one aunt Wilma Ringo of Virginia Beach, and a host of close family and friends including one very close friend, Wendy Parker.
Memories last a lifetime only if you share them.
On behalf of the family, we encourage you share your personal experiences and preserve the memory of Renee for future generations to come.
