Born on February 15, 1963 in Norfolk, Virginia to St. Elmo Pugh and Emily Pugh-Land. He accepted Christ at a very young age and became a member of Queen Street Baptist church serving as an altar boy, junior usher and choir member.
He was educated in the Portsmouth City Schools and graduated from Manor High School in 1981. He played the trumpet with a passion and marched in the band for the Mighty Mustangs. He continued his education at Norfolk State University and marched in the NSU Spartan Legion. He attended the Cleveland school for Broadcasting in Ohio and became a professional Disc Jockey. He started The Portsmouth All Stars as a young man along with his two brothers – Vincent and Calvin. They were well known and played at various venues throughout Tidewater and along the east coast for years. He work worked as a adult counselor for several group homes in the Tidewater area. Michael was admired bmany due to his jovial spirit and he never met a “stranger.”
