Retired Sergeant Major, Mary Alice Walden, age 70, of Columbus, GA, passed away early on the morning of April 23, 2022.
Mary was an active member of Alpha Lambda Psi MilitarySpouses Sorority, Incorporated. She also served as the Worthy Matron for the Mecca Supreme Council Order of the Eastern Stars. She was a dedicated and active member of Bethany Baptist Church where she functioned as the ministry leader forthe Too Sweet Diabetes Awareness Support Group and served on the Jake Manley Usher Board.
As a certified Mediator and Conflict Resolution Manager for the Department of Navy & U.S. Fleet Forces Command, Mary had more than 40 years of civilian service.
Mary left an incredible legacy for her family as the matriarchal figure. Her strong faith and dedication to community service were her driving forces.
Mary loved her family dearly and supported them in every endeavor. She is preceded in death by her mother, Alice Thomas; and her sisters, Shelia Williams and Brigitte Hancock.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 38 years, Willie Walden. To cherish her memories, she leaves her sons Elton Crawford (Leah) and Jeremy Walden (Jeanette); her brothers, Raney Holmes and Charles Thomas (Barbara); her most beloved granddaughter Maverick; an unborn grandson, Jeter and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memories last a lifetime only if you share them.
