Hildred Beatrice Rigby

Hildred Beatrice Rigby transitioned on Wednesday January 27, 2021 at Maryview Hospital Portsmouth, Virginia.

Hildred Beatrice Rigby was born on July 24, 1925 to Elfrida Douglas in No. 5 Berbice, Guyana. Hildred attended Berbice Government School until she started working at a young age. She worked as a baker in Georgetown, Guyana for several years. She relocated to the United States in 1965 and worked as a nanny for the Verney family. She later worked as a paint mixer with L. Reusche & Co. until she retired. Hildred lived out her retirement in Irvington, NJ until she moved to Chesapeake, Va with her daughter Sandra in 2016.

Hildred is survived by her children- Vibert (Joan), Eyan (Janice),Sandra and daughter in law Kathlyn. Grandchildren- Compton, Agatha, Juliet, Angela, Nicola, Raydon (Lydia), Sanchia, Monica, Teleca, Anthony R. , Sheldon(Ramona), Kathy (James), Shelley (Anthony), Kevin, Davina, Idrissa, Jamila(Allen) and Anthony S. (Carol). Brothers- Alden “S.I.” (Elsa), Frank (Pauline), Daniel and sister in law Elizabeth “Hyacinth”. Her memory will also be cherished by her 46 great grandchildren, 24 great- great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Hildred is preceded in death by her mom Elfreida, children- Gloria, Grafton, David and Ronnie and grandchildren, Merlene, Troy and Shantel.

The family of Hildred Rigby wishes to express our thanks and sincere appreciation for all the many expressions of love, kindness and concern shown to us during this time. May God continue to bless each of you.
