Edith Devora Cummings transitioned on Thursday January 6, 2022 at her residence in Portsmouth, Virginia

Edith Devora Cummings was born March 17, 1957, in Portsmouth, Virginia and left this world on January 6, 2022, at the age of 64. The third of five children born to Edward and Dorothy Cummings, Edith was a grandmother, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, and friend to many. She was raised by her parents in the Cavalier Manor area of Portsmouth and a 1975 graduate of the original Manor High School.

Edith worked at the Norfolk Naval Base at the NAVSUP Center for 30+ years as a Data Clerk. She was a valued member of Union Bethel Church of God in Christ in Portsmouth for the past several years.

Edith leaves two children - Russell Riddick III of Washington, D.C., Marlena Id-deen (Abdu) of Antioch, TN, three grandchildren - Dayanara Riddick, Jabez & Jabari Id-deen, three siblings Steve Cummings (Claretha) of Clinton, MD, Doris Hylton (Anthony) and Amaziah Cummings all of Portsmouth, VA. She is also survived by her very special friend Thorngton Russell and a vast array of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward and Dorothy Cummings, and her sister Joyce Ann Cummings Gordon whom she adored.

Edith loved spending time with her nephews Deuce, Khalil and Joe. Going on road trips was her fav and to relax she could just sit down with a good book for hours.

Memories last a lifetime only if you share them.
