Douglas Quinten Thompson, born on February 15, 1934, touched the lives of many with his kind and gentle demeanor, complemented by a great sense of humor. His recent passing on March 16, 2024, in Chesapeake Va., has left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.
Douglas led a remarkable life filled with service to his country and community. Having served in the Air Force for two decades and then dedicating another 20 years to government work following his retirement, he embodied the values of dedication and commitment. His bravery shone through as he completed two tours of duty during his time in the Air Force.
Apart from his distinguished career, Douglas had a passion for music that he generously shared with his church community. He composed beautiful pieces and found joy in playing the piano and lending his voice to various choirs. His talent was matched only by his compassionate nature.
Fondly remembered for being incredibly family-oriented, Douglas leaves behind cherished memories with all who were fortunate enough to know him. Among those mourning his loss are his beloved daughter Lynda Santiago, son-in-law Francisco Santiago, daughter Rhonda Stacy, son-in-law EJ Stacy, and grandchildren Devon, Frankie, Christopher, Roberto, Ebony, Ariana, Erik, Quinten, and Joel.
In addition to his immediate family, Douglas is survived by a host of nieces and nephews along with his dear siblings Brother Toussaint and sister Eleanor.
The funeral service to honor Douglas's life will be held at the E. Vaughn Wray Funeral Establishment in Norfolk on March 26th starting at 12:00 PM.
Douglas Quinten Thompson will be dearly missed but forever remembered for his compassion, humor, and musical talents that touched the hearts of many. May he rest in peace knowing that his legacy lives on through those who loved him most.
