Cecil Staton III was born on November 11, 1946, in Norfolk, Virginia, to the late Cecil Staton and Cleo Lynch. On January 15, 2024, Cecil was peacefully called to his eternal home.
Cecil was educated in the Norfolk public school system. After 65 years of employment, Cecil retired from McCallum Testing and Laboratory. Cecil also worked for Village Foods and The Food Bank Of Southern Virginia. Cecil loved to distribute food throughout his community.
Cecil was a neighborhood dad in every neighborhood he lived in. He had many affectionate names like Pops, Big Dog, Big C, Uncle Cecil. He was a role model, a provider, and a protector; an OG, the monarch. Cecil was a LEGEND! He would throw on a nice three-piece suit, Stacy Adams with the brim and a feather on the side, shoes to match. Some Amber White. A humble man. So smooth, so cool. He loved getting dressed, watching sports, playing cards, dominoes, watching cooking shows, praise and worship, music, dancing, and most of all, his family. He loved his grandchildren and children. Cecil would send his good morning text to them every morning. Cecil loved his wife and expressed that until his dying day! He will truly, truly be missed. He was greatly loved by all who knew him.
He leaves to carry his legacy. His wife, Melvine Staton. Three sons: Alcindor Stancel Cecil Staton and Travis Staton. One daughter: Tacarra Staton. Seven grandchildren: Jaylen Riddick, Devonte Winston, Isis Staton, Damontae Warren, Charlise Staton, Vernon Whitehurst, Aniya Staton. Two great grandchildren: Leilah Riddick and Major Riddick. Four brothers: Michael Staton, Jeffrey Staton, Clark Staton, and Darrell Staton. Three sisters: Michelle Staton, Anita Staton, and Katrina Love. Cecil was predeceased by his mother and father. One sister: Cecilia Williams, one brother: Richard Staton, and one stepson: Anthony Williams. Whom he loved very dearly. While we are saddened by his passing, we nevertheless rejoice and celebrate Cecil's life as he would want. We truly thank God for the love and his 77 years of life and everlasting memories of Cecil Staton III.
To my wife, when I tell you I love you, I don't say it out of habit or for conversation. I say it to remind you that you are the best thing that ever happened to me. Thank you for sticking beside me. You were my happy ending, always and forever. For 46 years, I have loved you so much. Never wonder how did I die, but how did I live? - Cecil
