Betty J. Graddy Mitchell, 75, of Chesapeake peacefully transitioned from this life on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, May 23, 2023, 11am at the E. Vaughn Wray Funeral Establishment, 5873 Poplar Hall Dr., Norfolk. Viewing will be held Tuesday morning at the funeral home, 10am until time of services. Born in Norfolk,

Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Neva Pearl Graddy. She attended Crestwood High School (Chesapeake) and was a graduate of Granby High School (Norfolk).  Holding many managerial roles in her professional life, she lived and worked in California and St. Thomas USVI as well as Virginia. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her son Aaron K., her siblings Johnnie Melvin and Deborah Ann.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted son Michael Sumler, Jr. (Paula); grandchildren Michaella and Aaron, Jr.; siblings, Jannie P. Taylor (Harry), Randolph Graddy (E. Bernice) and Rudolph Graddy (Sharon) as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
