It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved, Arneka (Neka) Tanner. She was born on November 14, 1981, to Theresa L. Tanner and the late Charles W. Walker in Norfolk, Virginia and she sadly passed away surrounded by her family on Monday, January 8, 2024.
Neka was a great person with an oversized heart that loved everyone, and everyone loved her. She loved cooking and bringing her family and friends together to enjoy her meals that were infused with love. She especially loved nurturing and caring for children.
She was a fun free spirit with a pure heart who loved to sing along with the radio and dance. She brought life into every room she entered. She was a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on for those who knew her and even for strangers.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her first born and only son, Kwa’Mayne K. Tanner (Leah), two daughters, KeShara D. Tanner, and Kay’Yoni K. Watson; her heart in human form, her granddaughters, KaNiyah D. Miles and Khloe L. Tanner; her first best friends, her sisters LaShawna S. Moyd and Avery C. Tanner; and her companion Jervare Myers.
She is also survived by her six nephews, Darius, Darrel, Kimon, KeShaun, Grover Lee, Davari, and Joseph and four nieces, Kiyauna, Kiara, Kira, and Kia as well as her four great-nephews and a great niece.
Words can’t describe how much she will be missed by her family, friends, God sisters, and multiple God children.
