Ann Blair was born in Waltersboro,South Carolina, to her late mother, Henrietta Williams. She gained her wings on Sunday morning, February 12, 2023, at her loving home with her granddaughter, Janine Smith, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was surrounded by her loved ones in her time of passing.

At a young age, she was always ambitious by leaving her home at the age of 15 to make a better
life for herself. She relocated to New York City, New York, to be with her sisters. She was a woman of many
endeavors. Her frst business was a grocery store named Ann’s Grocery. Ten she owned a successful
restaurant named Ann’s Fish and Chips, but she didn’t stop there. She was the frst Black woman to
own a resort in Upstate New York, which was named Bel’Aire Resort.

She was a loving mother of two daughters. Ann moved to Connecticut as her daughters started their
families in order to be a part of their lives. While in Connecticut, she became a licensed caregiver. In 1988,
she relocated to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where her grandchildren resided. She became a devout, active
member of Rock Church who volunteered ofen until she was no longer physically able to go. Some of Ann’s
hobbies included fshing, cooking, traveling, reading, and the joy of being around family. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her daughter, La’Verne Blair; grandchild, Daphne Blair; sibling, Maria Colfeld; and nieces,
Freda and Lateashar.

She leaves behind: her daughter, Angela Blair; grandchildren, Lawrence Green (Bettie), Janine Smith
(Henry), Joi Green Banard (Carlton), Jai Johnson, and Darla Blair; great-grandchildren, Xavier, Janayla,
Christian, Alexis, Jahvion, Jair, Chastity, Jordan, James, Jabron, Nina, Andrea, Lil’ Henry, Jakeya,
Kourtney, Amber, and Zenaida; ten great-great grandchildren; nephews, James and Christopher
(Ashley); and fve great-nieces and great-nephews.

Memories last a lifetime only if you share them.
