Amanda Virginia Brown, a beacon of love and compassion, departed from this world on April 8th, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of kindness that will forever illuminate the hearts of those who knew her. Amanda was preceded in her death by her grandmothers Ruby Thompson and Alice Hill, her father Alvin B. Hudgins Sr., and her godson Dacari “James” Knatt.
Born on February 10th, 1967, Amanda graced this world with her radiant presence, bringing joy and warmth to all who crossed her path. Amanda's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to serving others. From her humble beginnings in Philadelphia, PA, to her later years in Smithfield, VA, she embodied the spirit of selflessness and compassion. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Tidewater Community College, where she earned an associate degree in Computer Science, a testament to her intellect and determination. Additionally, she obtained her EMT-P certification, demonstrating her commitment to aiding those in need.
Throughout her career, Amanda touched countless lives through her work at Eastern State Mental Health Hospital and the Red Cross. Her boundless empathy and innate ability to connect with others made her a pillar of support for those facing hardship. She found fulfillment in her role as a humanitarian, knowing that she was making a meaningful difference in the world.
Above all else, Amanda cherished her role as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister. She leaves behind her beloved husband, Kenneth Brown Jr., her cherished mother Valerie Johnson, and her stepfather Willie Johnson. Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Shydraa "Shy" Hudgins and Valerie Hudgins, her stepchildren Andraka P. Holmes, Ashley, Jordan, Daniel, Michael, and Courtney Brown, as well as her bonus children Keisa, TyRhonda, and Monique. Amanda's love extended to her precious grandchildren, Kamryn-Riley, Ellison Amandus, Karsyn-Rae, Kaliyah, Kimmora, Serenity, Madison, and Madden who brought immense joy to her life.
In addition to her immediate family, Amanda is survived by her siblings Alvin Hudgins Jr., Ruby Bennett, Jearl Palin, Adrienne Brooks, Daniece Jenkins, and Willisa Johnson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom were touched by her love and kindness.
Though Amanda's physical presence may have departed from this world, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she touched and the memories she created. May her legacy of love, compassion, and selflessness serve as a guiding light for us all, inspiring us to embrace each day with kindness and generosity.
